The problem
Sound familiar?
Most Macs that arrive on our bench came in for one of these. None of them mean your Mac is finished.
- You press the power button and nothing happens — no chime, no light, no fan.
- The screen is cracked, has a bright line down it, or the backlight has gone dark.
- Something got spilled on the keyboard and now keys are dead or the trackpad is erratic.
- It boots to a folder with a question mark, or a prohibitory sign, and stops there.
- Everything takes forever, the beachball spins constantly, and the fans never stop.
- It runs out of storage every week and you have started deleting things you want to keep.
The solution
What we actually do
No guessing, no parts cannon. The point of the diagnostic is to find the one thing that is wrong before anybody spends money.
- 01
Full diagnostic — $55, prepaid
We test the logic board, storage, memory, display, battery and power system, and check the machine’s history. You get a plain-English report back, whatever we find.
- 02
A quote, before we touch anything
You hear the cost and the options first. If the repair is not worth what the Mac is worth, we will tell you that plainly — and the $55 still bought you a real answer.
- 03
Your data is protected first
Where the drive is readable, we get a copy off before we start work. Safeguarding your personal property is the part of this job we take most seriously.
- 04
The repair, then a real test
We fit the part, reassemble, and run the machine under load before you collect it. The $55 diagnostic comes off the bill.

In their words
I have been a continuous user of Apple/Macintosh equipment since 1994, and in the early years there was not a factory approved technician available. It was necessary to ship your computer back to California at considerable cost and inconvenience. For the past several years Greg Colovos, Apple Certified and owner of Mac and More Systems, has provided Apple equipment owners with prompt repairs at their home or business or his shop — his workmanship has been superior and his charges reasonable. Tallahassee and surrounding areas are blessed.
Questions
Mac & MacBook Repair — frequently asked
How much does a Mac repair cost in Tallahassee?
It starts with a $55 prepaid diagnostic, which covers the full test and a report back to you. If you go ahead with the repair, that $55 is credited toward it. Labour in shop is $110 an hour, and parts are quoted before any work begins.
Do you fix Macs that are out of warranty or several years old?
Yes — that is most of what we see. We will also tell you honestly when a machine has reached the point where a repair costs more than it is worth, so you can put the money toward the right thing instead.
Will I lose my files?
Not if we can help it. Where the drive is still readable we copy your data off before we start any hardware work. If the drive has already failed, that becomes a data recovery job rather than a repair, and we will talk you through it first.
Do I need an appointment to bring a Mac in?
You can call ahead on 850-894-3622 or just come by 230 John Knox Road #4 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Calling first means we can tell you what to bring — usually the charger and your login password.
Are you an Apple Store?
No. We are an independent, family-owned Apple specialist that has been serving North Florida and Southwest Georgia since 2003, with Apple Certified Macintosh Technician credentials on the bench.
